Senator Shehu Sani has condemned the federal government position on the application for US visa by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
But speaking with newsmen, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, said while the federal government is not in the position to dictate to the US on who or who not to grant its visa to, it called on the US government to exercise caution on granting Atiku visa so as not to look as if US is endorsing him for the 2019 election.
Senator Sani however, considered the Muhammadu Buhari federal government act as unpatriotic and condemnable.
He made his view known through the message below:
“Telling a foreign country not to grant visa to your fellow citizen on the ground that he is a candidate; and with no ‘proven case of criminal offense ’ or breach of national or international law, is not just an unpatriotic act but a condemnable act.”
