Detaining Senator Dino Is Utter Disregard For Human Rights – Tajudeen Yusuf

The member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constitutuency in the House of Representatives and a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the lower house in the 2019 general elections, Honourable Tajudeen Yusuf, has stated that the detention of Senator Dino Melaye by the Nigeria Police is utter disregard for human rights.

Senator Dino was arrested by the police after an eight day siege at his Abuja house for an alleged attempted culpable homicide on a police officer by the Kogi West senator and his gang at his hometown in Aiyetoro Gbedde, Kogi State, in June, 2018.

Dino, who collapsed after surroundering  himself to the Police on Friday, was taken to the hospital, but in the custody of Police.

Hon. Yusuf, in a couple of tweet, however, condemned the arrest of Senator Dino and called for his immediate release.

“It is quite reprehensible and unfortunate to witness what is going on with our brother @dino_melaye representing the Kogi West Senatorial District. The utter disregard for human rights, meandering of legal due process and trampling of civil liberties cannot be left unchecked.

“February 16 will surely mark the dawn of a new era and departure from this inept status quo. #LGNWA,” Yusuf said.
