Finally, Governorship Tussle Ends In Imo, Taraba As INEC Declares Winners

The fight for the government houses of Imo and Taraba States has finally been put to rest as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared winners for the two states.

The states which were hitherto among the inconclusive and suspended governorship election processes knew their fate on Tuesday morning.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates were declared winners of the two states.

As for Taraba State, the PDP candidate and incumbent governor, Darius Ishaku, was returned as governor of the state.

The state returning officer Prof. Shehu Iya, declared the PDP candidate winner early Tuesday morning at the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office in Jalingo.

According to him, the PDP candidate polled a total of 520,433 votes, while his closest rival, Sani Danladi, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, scored 362,735 votes.

He also announced that Ishaku won in 11 LGAs; Takum, Zing, Yorro, Kai, Bali, Donga, Wukari, Bali, Gashaka, Kurmi and Ussa LGAs, while Danladi won in four; Jalingo, Gassol, Ibbi and Karim Lami.

For Imo State, the PDP in its thank you message to the people of Imo  and congratulatory message to its candidate, Emeka Ihedioha, for winning the Imo governorship election, said the people’s vote is a clear message to democracy.

The message read:

THANK YOU NDI IMO!

Your votes have sent a clear message of democracy!

Congratulations to our Governor Elect RT. HON Emeka Ihedioha @EmekaIhedioha

The entire PDP @OfficialPDPNig and IMO State chapter of our great party @PDPImoHeartland are grateful.

Emeka Ihedioha in thanking the people of Imo, also said:
