Kogi State Uni Student Shot Dead During Election Buries Amid Tears (Graphic Photos)

It was tears, sorrow and anguish as Daniel Usman, an undergraduate student of the Kogi State University, Anyigba was laid to rest.

For his family members and friends, February 23, 2019 will not only be remembered as the day of presidential and national assembly elections, but also the day they lost a young and vibrant man to the cold hand of death through election violence.

Election in Dekina Local Government Area (late Daniel’s) LGA, which happened to be the largest local government in the country was marred with violence.

Besides the snatching of ballot boxes and the total burnt down of the bus carrying virtually all the local government’s election results, at least, two people were reportedly shot death and both were said to be students of the state university, Anyigba, which also happened to be in the LG.

For late Daniel, he was said to have been shot dead during the presidential and national assembly polls in Ajetachi, Anyigba.

According to a tweet by a twitter user with user name @IllemonaUsman on the election day, he wrote: “There is a sporadic shooting of gun by suspected thugs in Anyigba Ward, Dekina LGA of Kogi. Disregard information from the @NGPoliceForce in that area that nothing of such is happening.The pple of this Ward are helpless as the hoodlums are having a field day. @FrcnNews @DeleMomodu.”

Also reporting the killing of Daniel, a twitter user wrote:

One voter named Daniel Usman has just been gunned down by suspected thugs in Anyigba Ward Dekina LGA of Kogi.He posted this on his @facebook some hrs ago @NGPoliceForce @inecnigeria
There is ongoing reign of terror in Anyigba town
@OfficialPDPNig @atiku @officialKolaO @FrcnNews.

As it is with cases like this in Nigeria, we can only pray God judge the perpetrators of this evil and their sponsors accordingly.
