The Social Democratic Party (SDP) senatorial candidate in the February 23 elections for Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti has accused the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello of torturing her youth leader, Friday Ovoro.
It has been a tough battle, before, during and even after the election for the Kogi Central senatorial seat between the SDP candidate and Governor Bello, who incidentally, is from the district.
Although, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate who was the anointed of the governor, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the election, Natasha has repeatedly said that she is very hopeful of reclaiming her mandate through the Tribunal.
Natasha also reiterated this in a tribute she recently did for her tortured youth leader, Friday Ovoro, posted in her Facebook page.
For Friday Ovoro …
We shall reclaim our mandate at the tribunal because like many who suffered for our sake:
He was tortured for 20 days in Kogi Government house’s dungeon to bear false witness against me in admitting that I gave him guns.
He refused to budge.
When they saw he was unbroken, he was offered N500,000 to lie.
He turned them down.
The struggle was tough but our hearts are resolute in changing our narratives.
We shall live to celebrate our senatorial victory by God’s grace.
Natasha further shared photos of terribly beaten Ovoro, while calling on President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to see what Governor Bello has done.
She made this call on her twitter page.
“Dear @MBuhari & @ProfOsinbajo, look at what Yahaya Bello Gov Kogi St did 2 my youth leader Friday Ovoro.
“Abducted & tortured for 20 days in kogi Govmt house to admit I gave him guns.
“Sad the @NGRPresident, @PoliceNG & @hrw turn a blind eye to this evil.
