The federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, in ensuring that rural communities enjoyed electricity supply, has approved the concessioning of Omi Dam in Kogi State, and other four of such across the country for Rural Hydro Dams.

This was made known to ACEGIST by one of the President’s aides, Tolu Ogunlesi in a tweet.

Ogunlesi’s tweet read:

NEWS: @AsoRock has approved the concessioning by @FMPWH & @FMWRNigeria of 5 Hydro Dams to improve electricity supply to Rural/Agrarian communities:

6MW Ikere Gorge Dam in Oyo
2MW Omi-Kampe Dam in Kogi
300KW Zobe Dam and 4MW Jibiya Dam in Katsina
3MW Bakolori Dam in Zamfara

The Kogi State government, has therefore, appreciated President Buhari for what it called “unleashing the potentials of Omi Dam’s hidden treasure.”

This was stated in the official twitter handle of Kogi State Government House.

“Thank you, @MBuhari! All Kogites, particularly Okun people, thank you for unleashing the potentials of this hidden treasure. We are indeed grateful!!” The statement read.
