Ibadun, the Oyo State capital received the campaign train of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday.
The rally came hours after President Buhari controversially removed the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, who is a Southerner and swore in another, Justice Tanko Mohammed, a Northerner.
Many had believed that in protest, the president’s campaign rally in Oyo and Osun States will be greeted with low turnout.
This was not so in Oyo State as many trooped out to cheer Buhari.
In his address, President Buhari spoke of two issues to the people of the state.
The president reminded them of the nearly completed Lagos-Ibadun standard guage rail. He said this will to a large extent ease the transportation system of the people of the state.
President Buhari also charged the governors of the states in the western zone to encourage their people to go back to farm, as that remains the most viable way to be self sufficient.
Speaking, APC national leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urged the people of the state to reject the people that had ruined the country in the past.
Speaking in Yoruba, Tinubu said. “Reject Ill luck, reject ill luck, they are mad.”
