As the popular saying goes; better late than never. So is the fund raising scheme currently being organised for the parents of Leah Sharibu by popular social media influencer, Reno Omokri.
Leah was one of the 110 school girls adopted by Boko Haram terrorist group in Dapchi, Yobe State over a year ago. While the other school girls have been released, Leah was held back because she is a Christian and refused to renounced her faith.
Many people have condemned Christian bodies for not doing enough in reaching out, especially financially, to the parents of Leah, who are currently going through difficult time.
Hence, it was a great relief to see Reno’s initiative in raising fund for the grieving parents of Leah.
It would be recalled that Reno had earlier raised fund for the girl’s parents by donating the proceeds of a book on Leah to them.
However, in making this current fund raising all involving, Reno came up with a #FreeLeahSharibu shirts that cost $100 for one, which proceeds go to the girl’s parent.
And for those who cannot afford the shirt or who will not have access to the shirt, there is also an account number where you make your donation for the parents.
Notable Nigerians, including Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Senator Nanadi Usman, former spokesman to Namadi Sambo, Mallam Umar Sani and many others have made donations.
Reno’s message in announcing the account details of Leah’s parents read:
For those who cant afford the #FreeLeahSharibu shirts, but still want to support Leah’s parents, please DO NOT send me money. Send money to Leah’s parents DIRECTLY at:
Nathan irmiya Sharibu Eco bank 3421052723
Even if you can’t donate, at least share this message. #RenosNuggets
ACEGIST prays that you will be blessed as you contribute to this laudable course.
