Outspoken Senator Shehu Sani has openly doubted that President Muhammadu Buhari will conduct a free and fair elections come 2019.
The senator representing Kaduna Central based his premise on the fact that the Buhari led government has been found wanting in disobedient to rule of law.
Hence, Sani said any government that is lacking in that can not be expected to conduct a free and fair elections.
You will recall that President Buhari has been largely criticised for lack of respect for rule of law, especially as it has to do with the case of Shiite leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and Sambo Dasuki, former National Security Adviser to then President Goodluck Jonathan, both of whom are still unjustly remanded in prison.
“When a Government habitually disobeys court orders & factually violates fundamental rights, there’s enough material evidence to denounce its attitude to rule of law and doubts its commitment to free & transparent elections. Rule of law is the horse & free elections is the cart,” Sani said
