The Vice President further added that the President is probably poorer now than when he became President of Nigeria in 2015.
Osinbajo stated this on Thursday night when he hosted a dinner in honour of volunteers who canvassed for votes for the All Progressives Congress, APC during the campaigns in the general election, at the Old Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Osinbajo said: “When I looked at his assets declaration form, I was checking it in 2015, I said to him, “Mr President, I am so much richer than you, it is an embarrassment.”
He said President Buhari replied by saying, “I am only a soldier, you are a big lawyer so you should have more money than me.”
Osinbajo further added that, “I can tell you that he is perhaps; even poorer than he was in 2015 when I saw his declaration of assets form.”
However, a human right activist, Aisha Yesufu has disagreed with VP Osinbajo on his claim that President Buhari is poor.
Aisha who tweeted to react to Osinbajo’s claim said: “President Buhari @MBuhari ‘s poverty sent his children to school in UK & allowed him to have a doctor in the UK since 70’s.
“Are we talking of the same poverty that has a child sent home for lack of school fees & has a parent watch a child die because no money for hospital bill?”
